About K.A. Wirtz
K.A. Wirtz writes fiction about people whose lives don’t go quite according to plan.
Her novels range from contemporary women’s fiction to cozy mystery, but they’re connected by characters facing unexpected turns, difficult choices, and the question of what comes next when life takes you somewhere you never intended to go.
A U.S. Air Force veteran with a background that has included everything from languages and logistics to education and small-business ownership, Wirtz has collected more than enough evidence that real life rarely follows a tidy outline. She lives in Ohio with her family, where she writes stories about complicated people, second chances, and the lives we build from the choices we make.
Her books include What She Almost Became and A Toxic Brew, the first Rochelle Holloway mystery.

What She Almost Became
LUCY HAWTHORNE THOUGHT HER LIFE WAS FALLING APART.
SHE WAS WRONG.
Lucy Hawthorne had a career, a longtime boyfriend, and a carefully planned future in New York. Then her boyfriend fired her and dumped her in the same conversation.
Before she can figure out what comes next, Lucy gets even worse news: her grandfather has died.
She returns to her small hometown of Plum Creek expecting to attend the funeral, settle the estate, and get back to New York. Instead, Grandpa leaves her his house and half of the family cidery.
Suddenly Lucy is tied to the orchard she thought she’d left behind, the family she left behind, and Jack Reid—her brother’s best friend and the former teenage menace responsible for the nickname “Juicy Lucy.”
The longer Lucy stays, the harder it becomes to remember why she was so desperate to leave.
And when the life she thought she wanted comes calling again, Lucy may finally have to decide whether losing everything was actually the luckiest thing that ever happened to her.
A warm, heartfelt story about coming home, starting over, and discovering that sometimes the life that falls apart is the one that needed to.

A Toxic Brew
Rochelle Holloway knows wine. Murder? Not so much.
As the winemaker at a small-town brewery, Rochelle is more comfortable with a glass in her hand than a mystery to solve. But when a beer judge collapses during Oktoberfest—and her boss, Lance, becomes the prime suspect—Rochelle isn’t about to sit back and let the police get it wrong.
Someone poisoned that beer.
Between suspicious brewers, bruised egos, brewing rivalries, and a few questionable decisions of her own, Rochelle starts asking questions. The trouble is, somebody would really rather she didn’t.
Now Rochelle has to find out who turned Oktoberfest deadly before the wrong person takes the fall.
A Toxic Brew is a lighthearted amateur-sleuth mystery filled with craft beer, small-town secrets, a touch of romance, and one very determined would-be detective.
